I design and build intuitive websites with carbon footprint and user experience in mind. Expect a site that loads in milliseconds no matter the device, and a UX that keeps visitors from going round in circles.
When I joined forces with TEDx organizers at the University of Greenwich years ago, I had one job: create a digital programme for people attending the 2021 talks that would enrich their experience.
The challenge was clear, but time was short. So, in less than two weeks I had a landing page up and running with all the event details. It loaded quickly. Quicker than most sites. And the information was clear as day. I opted for a minimalist, uncluttered layout that allowed visitors to find what they needed without distraction.
For two years, I led brand marketing at Blueberry Creatives. I elevated their profile and strengthened their message. Both clients and talent took notice.
To drive bookings, I overhauled two of Blueberry's client newsletters, the Shortform Roundup and the Broadcast Editors Roundup. These kept hundreds of production companies updated on talent availability across our roster while sharing news from the industry and our HQ. I led each project from brainstorming to launch and co-wrote many of the newsletters published in 2022-23.
Four months after launch, the open rate of the Shortform Roundup (the first to go live) had quadrupled, making it Blueberry's fastest growing newsletter by engagement.
In response to a growing demand for authentic, handcrafted websites - the kind you code yourself - I hosted a local event and created a microsite to generate interest and participation.
I opted for a site that's clean and simple: pure HTML and CSS. No gimmicks, so it loads fast. 159KB, to be precise (light as a feather). An Eventbrite page is a heavyweight by comparison.
Getting th site out there was a great opportunity to show the power of small-web design while promoting a community initiative about small-web design. So I built a touchpoint that informed attendees AND embodied the essence of the event itself.
I was also able to escape the constraints of listing on an event platform. Free myself from their rules and bloat. So this site worked for everyone, including on slow connections or on a train, and showed what could be done with languages anyone can learn.
I use low-code and no-code platforms like Webflow and Framer to deliver beautiful, functional websites. This can often mean faster turnaround times, lower costs and a website that evolves as fast as your business.
Streak-free type
When a site's typography is off, you can feel it. It makes everything look a bit out of place. Not in my book. I pick and set the best font(s) to add depth to a concept, which in turns influences the shape of every site I bring to life.
Asynchronous first
Limiting synchronous work such as meetings, lets me deliver great results without sacrificing work-life balance. Plus, working remotely means I can partner with top talent and bring in extra expertise whenever needed.
Question everything
Asking questions lets me determine the best way to help each client. Questions make space for better solutions, and real progress happens when we stand in that space willing to rethink what's been done before.
Sensible media use
By sticking to functional elements and reducing decorative images, videos and animations, I don't overwhelm visitors, drain their battery, or consume all their data. This also ensures good SEO and top accessibility.
